Salary range: £42,821 - £45,859 per annum

Work location: Tidmarsh Lane, Oxford (you will be required to work from this location and in an agile manner)

Hours per week: 37 - We are open to discussions about flexible working

Contract type: Permanent

About the role

In the role, you will effectively lead and provide a high quality and cost-effective Coroner’s Service for the local community in line with the latest legislation and guidance. You will lead, develop, and champion the provision of Coroner’s services within the county ensuring that appointments for key life events are available. 


You will lead a team of over 10 people in multiple roles and will be responsible for ensuring they reach their full potential and work to the highest possible standard.


It is a role where you can demonstrate your commitment and motivation to improve the customer experience and where you and the team can really make a difference in the pivotal moments of people’s lives.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive knowledge of the Coroner’s service and associated legislations with the drive and ambition to continually improve the service overall.


You will need to demonstrate your experience of working at a strategic level and in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. We need someone who is passionate about service delivery to lead the Coroner’s Service. Someone who has excellent leadership and management skills with experience of leading a team with diverse roles in a demanding area.  You must be able to work with our communities and partners to ensure we provide a personal and sensitive service helping them to navigate a key life event. We are looking for an individual that with their wealth of knowledge, can bring visionary ideas about the ways in which our Coroner’s Service can effectively be developed.


It is a great opportunity for the successful applicant to lead a key service within the County Council and be part of a new Cultural Services management team.
